Welcome to Plentiful Harvest Homestead

As our first post, I’d like to welcome you to our blog, to our homestead, and to our life. We’re glad you stopped by!  We have been walking with the Lord for 25+ years and love how He leads us to new, interesting, and life-giving endeavors.

In 2011, God gave me a vision of preparation for times to come.  The vision included our small home being a little ecosystem with rabbits nourishing a garden which nourishes the rabbits.  I didn’t think it was feasible so focused my research a while on aquaponics (similar idea with fish and plants), but it seemed complicated to set up, so I was just waiting for direction.

Well, in February 2014 Danny and I were browsing online and I came across a pretty rabbit on craigslist for 5 dollars. She is an American Chinchilla/New Zealand mix.  We had her bred and brought her into our home. The peace of God was palpable in the room.  We could feel His blessing and His rest, the kind of rest that comes as our blessing as the people of God, the rest of walking in His plan.

Rose had 8 kits and the vision became clearer, to have more than enough to share.  As we’re prepping and micro-farming we of course are thinking of receiving God’s provision through the animals and plants for our own family.  But God has clearly said we would have more than enough to share, so our vision is ever on how our efforts at Plentiful Harvest Homestead can be a way of sharing God’s blessings.  This might be through providing others with fiber for a scarf to stay warm, eggs or meat or herbs for a nourishing meal, a good breeding rabbit or quail for another to get started or expand their lines, a nice pet to give cuddles, or friendship where God’s love can be lived out.

It is our prayer that each visitor here will be blessed, perhaps with ideas and information, perhaps by pleasant pictures, perhaps by the Lord’s love.  In times when we feel abundance and in times when we feel need, we desire to walk in surrender to the Lord of the Harvest to have more than enough to share with each one who enters here.
